Addressing social media in your disciplinary procedure
Having a detailed disciplinary procedure can benefit and protect your organisation in a wide variety of ways – many of which you will not have even considered.

Disciplinary and grievance procedures can be a real problem for businesses, especially when these aren’t set out properly and distributed to employees before problems do occur.
Not having structured and compliant disciplinary and grievance procedures in place can leave you at risk for employment tribunal hearings and issues internally.
Disciplinary procedures need to be set out so staff members know what is expected of them, and what will happen if they do not preform according to the set rules. Disciplinary procedures need to follow the ACAS code of practice as failure to do so can leave you vulnerable to higher costs in the event of an employee tribunal.
You furthermore need to have grievance procedures in place so your staff has the possibility to communicate any issues they may have so you can resolve these issues before these get out of hand. Having grievance procedures in place will also help you understand your staff more and help you focus on improving employee relations.
